Aberdeen complete loan signing of Birmingham City midfielder

Scottish Premiership club Aberdeen have completed the signing of midfielder Greg Stewart from Birmingham City according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 27-year-old Denny born midfielder has fallen out of favour at St Andrews during the second half of the season and does not seem to be in Blues boss Harry Redknapp’s plans for the new season.

It has now been reported that the player has agreed to return north of the border to join Scottish Premiership club Aberdeen on a season-long loan deal and should Stewart impress at Pittodrie there is a chance that the deal could be made permanent next summer.

Stewart started his career with Syngenta Amateurs after failing to make the grade at both Rangers and Hearts before moving to Cowdenbeath. The player made 141 appearances for The Blue Brazil, scoring 40 goals in four seasons with the club.

After rejecting a new deal at Central Park, the midfielder joined Dundee where Stewart continued to play regular first team football. The player joined Sky Bet Championship club Birmingham City in August for a reported transfer fee of £500,000. Stewart made 22 appearances for the Blues before falling out of favour. The Scot does not look likely to force his way back into the side and the player could benefit from his loan spell with Aberdeen.
