Morecambe striker signs for Swindon Town

Paul Mullin has signed for Swindon for an undisclosed fee. The 22-year-old scored ten goals last season for The Shrimps. This is Flitcroft’s third signing in four days. Mullin joins new additions, James Dunne and Chris Robertson.

Mullin has joined on a two-year deal. The striker spent his youth career with Everton and Liverpool. At the age of 16, Mullin was scheduled to move to Racing Santander however, this move fell through due to the club’s financial situation. His senior career kicked off with Huddersfield. Despite impressing for the club’s U21s he never made a first-team appearance. In August 2014 Morecambe signed the 22-year-old and he’s gone on to score 25 goals in 122 games.

After the signing was announced by the club,. Mullin had some words to say about the move. Mullin said ” I’m made up to be here. It’s a massive club. Coming to a bigger club like this is great and I can’t wait to start.”

While his goal scoring ratio isn’t great he has experience in the league after his time with Morecambe. Furthermore, he is capable of scoring stunning goals as we can see from this clip.

This is David Flitcroft’s third signing since taking charge. Another player is expected to sign for Town as well. Rumours are emerging that Vale captain Ben Purkiss is the player close to agreeing terms with Swindon however, these rumours haven’t been confirmed.

The 22-year-old will help bolster attacking options at the club. Currently, there are only three other strikers at the club and these strikers are Luke Norris, Jermaine Hylton and Scott Twine who only have five league goals between them. Mullin will hopefully be able to help get Swindon back into League One and if he reaches double figures like the last two seasons then there is no reason why he can’t play a pivotal role in the side.
