Dack has joined Blackburn on a three-year deal, with the option of a fourth, ahead of the new season starting in August.  Rovers have paid £750,000 but the price of the deal could rise due to several add-ons.

The midfielder has become Tony Mowbray’s third signing of the summer, and is the first to sign for a fee.  Blackburn had already completed the signings of former Cardiff City midfielder Peter Whittingham and former Rotherham United midfielder Richie Smallwood.  Rovers fans will be encouraged by the signings so far, and will be hoping that the club can bounce straight back up to the Championship.

Dack, 23, has made 185 appearances for Gillingham since his debut in 2012. He won the club’s Young Player of the Season Award in 2012-13 after two goals in 20 appearances in all competitions.

The midfielder really became a key player for Gillingham in the 2014-15 season in League One. He scored 10 goals in 50 appearances and won Young Player of the Season, Sponsor’s Player of the Season and Player’s Player of the Season.

The following season, Dack did even better and scored 15 goals in 44 appearances, getting 11 assists. His good form led to bids in January 2016, including a bid of £2 million from Championship side Bristol City but all bids were rejected. The midfielder won the League One Player of the Season Award and was also named in the Football League Team of the Season.

Last season, Dack failed to score as many goals as in previous seasons and finished with six in all competitions. However, he still won the club’s Young Player of the Season Award for the third year running.

Dack will be hoping to get back to the form he discovered in the 2015-16 season with Gillingham and help Blackburn to promotion this season.
