Lincoln City have today unveiled the permanent signing of midfielder Billy Knott. The 24-year-old played a big role in helping the Imps win the Vanarama National League title last season, and has penned a one-year deal with the club.
The ex-Bradford City man was made available for transfer by the Gills at the end of last season. His last appearance for Ady Pennock’s men came in January, before being shipped out on loan. This was to Lincoln’s gain as the creative midfielder played a big role in helping Danny Cowley’s side back into the EFL following a six-year absence.
Speaking to the official club website, Knott says that he is looking forward to next season, and that the Sincil Bank crowd haven’t seen the best of him,
“We had a great end to last season and it was only right to come back here and show the fans what I can do.
“I was probably only half fit last season when I came here and with a full pre-season behind me, I can do a lot more.”
Knott made 13 appearances from January onwards to help Lincoln on their end of season promotion run-in, including the winning strike when appearing off the bench in the 1-0 home victory versus Bromley in April. He says getting to work with the Cowley brothers and this group of players once again was an obvious factor in him signing,
“Everyone knows I know Dan and Nick (Cowley). It’s been a stressful couple of weeks trying to get it done but it’s done now and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
