Werder Bremen’s goalkeeper Wiedwald on the way to Leeds?

According to German website kicker, Werder Bremen’s goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald appears to be set to move to Leeds United.

Werder Bremen have agreed on a deal to sign goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka from Slavia Prague according to Werden Bremen’s official website. Given the fact that the German side has signed the Czechian goalkeeper, it appears it’s created an opportunity for Wiedwald to leave the club.

Leeds United have been in the market to sign a whole host of new players since their new manager Thomas Christiansen has taken the helm at Elland Road.

It was thought that Nottingham Forest and a whole range of other clubs in the Championship were reportedly in to sign for the goalkeeper and FC Nantes had been rumoured to be Wiedwald’s most likely destination. As the German website reports though, with the appointment of Claudio Ranieri as the new manager of the Ligue 1 club, their transfer target’s have changed drastically.

The Yorkshire Evening Post’s chief football writer Phil Hay has suggested that the links between the German goalkeeper and the West Yorkshire side are accurate according to his Twitter account.

Hay has said that Leeds have made a “firm enquiry” but it appears there has been no confirmation to say there is a concrete deal on the table.

We will find out in the coming hours as to whether there are any developments upon the rumours of Wiedwald moving to Elland Road, but it could be the time for Leeds fans to start getting excited at the prospect of a new signing.
