Charlton Athletic’s Ricky Holmes and Southend United’s Ryan Leonard are set to force moves to Sheffield United according to a report from the Sheffield Star.
The Blades have been looking to add new players to their squad following their promotion to the Sky Bet Championship and a clear strategy from them has been to sign impressive players from Sky Bet League One and Two. The latest players they have been looking at are Holmes and Leonard, two players they have made approaches for and tried to sign.
But while United have been keen to sign both Holmes and Leonard, both of their clubs have been looking to keep their star men and have turned down bids. But while both Charlton and Southend are doing their best to keep some of their key men, it appears the players themselves have other ideas and could try and force a move to Sheffield United in the coming days.
Both Holmes and Leonard want to sign for United with the chance of playing in the Championship being too much of a lure for both players. They have both become frustrated at the fact their clubs are not accepting offers for them and with their hearts set on a move to Bramall Lane, there’s a belief they will be looking to force moves when pre-season training starts at the beginning of July. Holmes has been particularly keen to join United, rejecting new improved contract offers from Charlton as he looks to make it clear that he wants to be a Blade.
