FACTFILE: Everything you need to know about Leeds United’s “imminent signing”

Earlier today, the72 published an article stating that Italian sports publications were reporting that a deal for Egjzan Alioski to join Leeds United was imminent, and that it could be completed in the coming days.

The Macedonian currently plays for Swiss Super League side FC Lugano, but has been heavily linked with a move away from the club, either to Leeds United or potentially an Italian side.

However, it seems that his mind is made up, and he will be playing in England next season.

There will not be many Leeds United fans out there who know a lot about Alioski, so we have done a bit of research on him.

Here is a look at what we found out:

Egjzan Alioski is 25-years-old. His natural position is on the right wing, although one of the reasons that Leeds United are interested in signing him is his versatility.

As well as being a natural on the wing, Alioski can also do a job upfront, and he did that for current club FC Lugano on a number of separate occasions.

The Macedonian began his career at Young Boys, where he had previously come through the academy.

He signed his first professional contract in 2010, and went on to make over 50 appearances for his boyhood club.

In 2013, Alioski moved to Schaffhausen originally on loan, before signing permanently in the summer of that year.

Again there, he went on to make over 50 appearances.

2016 saw him make a loan move to FC Lugano in January, before moving their permanently following the conclusion of his contract at Schaffhausen.

Alioski has never really hit the heights he would hope to until this season, which has been by far his best to date.

Over the course of 34 appearances last season, the 25-year-old right-winger-cum-forward scored 16 goals and provided 14 assists in a more than notable season.

As well as being a crucial player for his club, Alioski is a Macedonian international. Prior to joining up with the senior squad, he made 16 appearances for the youth teams.

He made his senior debut in 2013, and has played 13 games since then, scoring just the one goal.
