Barnsley to make an approach for Blackpool midfielder

Barnsley are to make an approach to sign Blackpool’s Brad Potts according to a report from journalist Alan Nixon.

The 23-year-old midfielder was one of Blackpool’s best as they finally got promoted from Sky Bet League Two. The Tangerines have had a miserable few years due to their ownership problems but they finally have some glimmer of hope as they won the League Two play-offs and will now hope to continue their rise up the EFL. But now Potts is attracting attention from further up the ladder and may make the move.

Barnsley have lost a number of their key midfielders over the last few months with Conor Hourihane leaving for Aston Villa during the January transfer window and Josh Scowen set to depart at the end of his contract. This means that the Tykes are in the market to sign a new central midfielder and as they have had success from signing in-form players from lower divisions, they are once again looking to a player that has impressed.

The South Yorkshire club are looking to make an approach worth £500k for Potts and are hoping that this will be enough to make sure he is a Barnsley player by the end of this summer. Blackpool are yet to reply to this approach but it is likely that they will be wanting to keep their star players, especially if they want to have a shot at challenging for the Sky Bet League One play-offs. But for now, this deal is up in the air as Barnsley await an offer.
