Leeds United and Saiz transfer agreement “very close” – Spanish source

With two loan-to-permanent deals already in the bag in the shape of Hadi Sacko and Pontus Jansson, and with a deal for Polish midfielder Mateusz Klich announced, Leeds United fans are sensing a little transfer fever.

According to Spanish source Sport Huesca, Whites fan won’t have to wait much longer for their next capture. The Spanish publication say that Huesca player Samu Saiz is on the verge of joining Leeds United. They say that the “Samu Saiz case looks set to be a soap opera,” with his leaving CD Huesca “a fact” but saying it is his whereabouts after that is “another story.”

However, with Spanish sides like Eibar, Real Betis, Las Palmas and Alaves said interested in capturing the signature of the former Real Madrid youngster, Sport Huesca say that it is Leeds United who are heading the transfer peloton at the moment.

The Spanish publication say that Saiz “is very close to closing out his move to Leeds United,” with a late move putting the Whites firmly in the driving seat of this particular deal. They go on to say that Leeds are “the best positioned” after putting in the highest offer for the Huesca forward.

This change is the positioning of the teams looking at Saiz, with Leeds coming to the forefront after concerted Eibar interest comes about after the Elland Road outfit topped Alaves’ €3 million offer. Sport Huesca said that Leeds United have raised the transfer bar with an offer of €3.5 million – around £3 million.

What may sway this deal for Saiz is the personal financial package being offered to him by Leeds United, which Sport Huesca say is €1 million (£880,000) per year – the equivalent of around £17,000-per-week.

Saiz made 40 appearances for La Liga 2 side Huesca last season, scoring 12 times and adding eight assists. However, after failing to gain promotion from La Segunda with Huesca, Saiz was said to be looking for a different opportunity – one that looks set to be sorted one way or the other in the next few days or so with Leeds United emerging as the most likely destination.
