Millwall set to prize two players away from a Championship rival

The Mirror understands that George Saville is set to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers and sign for newly promoted Millwall on a permanent deal. He is set to be joined by Jed Wallace, who ended last season on loan at The Den.

With Wolves now under the management of Nuno Espirito Santo following Paul Lambert’s exit from Molineux, the new boss is busy making plans ahead of the upcoming campaign and is happy for both Saville and Wallace to seek pastures new. Millwall are back in the Sky Bet Championship and have targeted two with both experience of this level, and of playing for Millwall in the past too.

Focusing on Saville first, he made a total of 30 appearances for Wolves last season under a few different managers. He is now closing in on a £500,000 exit for Millwall, with whom he enjoyed a loan spell with back in the 2015/16 campaign. During that stint, he made a total of 15 appearances for the club but has always been in the thoughts of Neil Harris it seems. Going even further back, he also played for Millwall in a much briefer loan spells back in 2013.

Wallace, aged 23, ended last season winning promotion with Millwall, winning the play-off final against Bradford City at Wembley. Wallace has found it increasingly difficult to make his mark at Wolves since joining in 2015 from Portsmouth. A couple of loan spells away, both at Millwall, have proved profitable, and a permanent switch now makes complete sense. This deal isn’t quite a formality just yet, but both look set to pull on the Millwall shirt next season.
