Bradford City defender signs new short term deal

Bradford City defender, Matthew Kilgallon, has signed a new one-year deal with his club, according to Bradford City’s official website.

The defender joined the club last year but was only given a one-year deal, with an option of a second year, back in 2016. Matthew Kilgallon as chosen to activate his one-year extension meaning he’ll be at the club until June next year.

He failed to make to make any real impact last season after only making 12 appearances in all competitions, although he did manage to pick up 3 assists. The 33-year-old is hoping to get a starting place next season and now Rory McArdle has left for Scunthorpe United his chance of a place in the starting XI has improved.

Here’s what Kilgallon has to say about signing a new deal, ‘I’m really happy to sign a new contract here and I’m glad that it has all been sorted now. It plays on your mind a bit when you’re away and you start to wonder what is happening, but the chairman said he really wants me to stay and I’m glad I’ve been able to do that.”

He then went on to say that last season was “disappointing” for him due to the injuries he suffered.

When asked about next season he said, “We’ve got good players here and we’ve got good strikers who can score goals, so I believe we can push on and have another good season.”
