Aston Villa: What John Terry could bring to Villa Park

The Villa are trying to secure former Chelsea’s John Terry to help them secure a place in the Premier League, but what will he bring under Steve Bruce?

The 36-year-old has spent his whole senior career with Chelsea since 1998. He had a loan spell with Nottingham Forest in 2000 but remained with the Blues for the next 17 years. He’s lifted five League trophies, five FA Cup trophies, three Football League Cup trophies, two Super Cup trophies, one Champions League trophy and one Europa League trophy.

Signing John Terry would mean they would bring in a defender who has dedication and leadership. He’s a very experienced player and would be an addition to Villa’s plans this season. He has been an excellent captain at Chelsea and would be able to help guide the rest of the squad. Personally, I think with the experience he has had, his work could reflect on the rest of the players which would be a huge boost to their chances of being a top-flight club next season.

Last season, it was clear that the Blues were ready to say their goodbyes to the centre-back. He played 9 games and even scored a goal against Watford in May. Overall, he’s made 690 appearances in a Chelsea shirt, 65 goals and 29 assists.

When his playing career does come to an end, he needs a coaching role. Hence why I believe a move to Aston Villa could really improve their chances in top-flight. They’re not strangers to the Premier League, but with the support from Terry, they could become a stronger team and be prepared for the bigger clubs, like Chelsea.
