Oztumer, Blackburn Rovers and Bury in chase for the Turkish Messi

Blackburn Rovers and Bury in chase for the Turkish Messi

Blackburn Rovers and Bury are chasing Walsall’s Erhun Oztumer according to a report from HITC Sport.

The 26-year-old midfielder joined Walsall last summer as they looked to rebuild their squad following losing many of their key players after reaching the Sky Bet League One play-offs. He turned out to be one of the signings of the season for the Saddlers as he would go on to score 15 goals for them. This amount of goals combined with his style of play made him a fans favourite, with them dubbing him as the Turkish Messi.

But this sort of form is always going to attract suitors and that is the case with Oztumer. Blackburn and Bury are very interested in signing him and are set to battle for his signature over the next few weeks. Interestingly, this might be seen as a bit of a downgrade for the former Peterborough United man as previous reports indicated there was report from the Sky Bet Championship but this rumour suggests that he would have to stay in League One. However either move would see him going to a team that want to get promoted to the Championship.

While Walsall would love to keep their star man around, his contract situation is indicated that he will be leaving. Oztumer only has a year left on his current contract and could leave on a free transfer next summer so Walsall will have to cash in now or risk losing one of their best players for free next year anyway.
