Barnsley have had bids rejected for Forest Green Rovers’ Ethan Pinnock rejected according to a report from HITC Sport.
The 23-year-old defender signed for Forest Green last summer from Dulwich Hamlet last summer and soon became one of the club’s key players. He would go on to make 40 appearances that season and was one of their star players as the club shocked everyone by getting promoted to the EFL for the first time in their history by winning the Vanarama National play-offs.
But while Forest Green would want to keep one of their star men for their historic season in Sky Bet League Two, Pinnock is being eyed by teams higher up the league ladder. Barnsley, who could lose many of their key players this summer after a season where they surprised everyone by avoiding a relegation battle and finishing in 14th place, have been wanting to sign Pinnock and have made offers to sign him.
But Forest Green are keen to show that they aren’t just going to sell their key players following promotion and have rejected these offers. Now Barnsley must decide if they want to go back with an improved offer. They are likely to lose their captain Marc Roberts this summer with all the Premier League interest in him and so will need a replacement, but with Pinnock having never played in the EFL before, it would be a huge risk to just chuck him into Championship action. However he would still be seen as a good, if a bit out there, signing for the Tykes.
