Birmingham City join Premier League teams in chase for French striker

Birmingham City have joined two Premier League teams in the chase to sign Dijon FCO’s Lois Diony according to a report from French publication L’Equipe via Sports Witness.

The Blues look like they have been given a big budget ahead of next season and with former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp installed as head coach, they are looking to land plenty of signings to make sure they are challenging for promotion next season rather than battling against relegation like they were last season. They’ve already been able to sign David Stockdale from Brighton and Hove Albion while reports suggest they might be able to sign former England international and Chelsea captain John Terry.

And now Birmingham are set to go head to head with two Premier League clubs as they look to sign a hotshot from France. Diony has been with Dijon since 2014 but is now coming off the back of an impressive season where he scored 11 goals. He was also a creative force for the Mustards as he had eight assists to his name as well.

This led to there being interest from Bournemouth earlier in the summer transfer window and they were soon joined by Brighton, who will now play in the Premier League after sealing their promotion with a second placed finish last season. But Birmingham are once again looking to impress in the transfer window by beating two top-tier clubs to the signing of Diony and show that they are a threat going into next season.
