Nottingham Forest sign Cummings – fans respond on Twitter

Nottingham Forest announced earlier today that they had brought in young Hibernian striker Jason Cummings as their first signing of the summer, saying that they were “delighted to confirm” his signature.

One thing about young striker Cummings, who is still just a 21-year-old, is that he has three full and solid seasons of SPL football behind him. Not only that, but these are consistent seasons too.

A quiet first SPL season in 2013/14 saw him play just 18 games and score just the two goals in two Premiership Play-off games. It is from there that he kicked on. The 2014/15 SPL season saw him make 35 SPL appearances (two of these in the play-offs)  and score 19 times, adding nine assists to his personal tally.

The following season, the 2015/16 SPL campaign was almost a carbon copy of the previous seasons’ efforts with him making 37 SPL appearances (four in the play-offs) and returning 18 goals and four assists.

Good buy or goodbye? What’s the view of Forest fans on Cummings signing?

But in football, you are really only as good as either your last outing or as a consistent approach built over numerous seasons – the latter particularly ringing true for the 21-year-old Cummings. Last season’s SPL campaign saw him feature in 31 games and return 19 goals and six assists.

As with any signing there is fan interest and this is certainly the case with the capture of Jason Cummings.
