Formerly known under many different names, such as the Milk Cup or the Carling Cup, the Carabao Cup couldn’t have started any worse after they drew out Charlton Athletic twice!
The Carabao Cup mix up happened live on many media platforms to an audience of hundreds of thousands of viewers. Charlton Athletic got drawn away to Exeter City and at home to Cheltenham Town without anyone making the draw noticing at the time. Here’s how the wonderful world of twitter reacted.
Many people have been slating the EFL and the EFL/Carabao Cup…
Further proof of why the EFL Cup should not be taken seriously: The draw took place in Thailand; and Charlton were drawn twice. Shambles.

Have the @EFL ever managed to get anything right? For the last two season they've been an absolute joke of an organisation #beingnice

Finally, last but not least this guy summed up the whole draw perfectly…
Basically;
– live stream was broken
– done in Thailand for £££
– Charlton & Swindon drawn twice

In recent years the EFL has lost all trust and respect amongst most football fans in Britain and this whole mix up will have done nothing but cause un rest in many football fans regarding their trust in the EFL.
The mix up has been sorted out now. The missing club who was meant to be drawn out was Oxford United who have been given Cheltenham Town at home and Charlton Athletic have been given Exeter City away. All ties will be played during the week commencing the 7th August.
