Hull City, Ipswich Town and QPR in chase for Nottingham Forest striker

Hull City, Ipswich Town and QPR are in a chase to sign Nottingham Forest’s Matty Fryatt according to a report from HITC Sport.

The 31-year-old striker has not appeared for Forest since March 2015, though his lack of paying time has been due to bad luck with injuries rather than a succession of managers not wanting to use him. He has been suffering from an Achilles injury which got so serious that he ended up being out for over two years. But over the last few months he has been working on returning to full fitness and is now ready to play.

So while Fryatt is set to be released by Nottingham Forest, plenty of their Sky Bet Championship rivals are willing to sign him. The likes of Hull, Ipswich and QPR are interested in signing him as while he hasn’t played regular first team football for years now, they know that he is a proven goalscorer at this level. So while he has been out for a while, the fact he would be a free transfer mean that the rewards far outweigh the risks.

Fryatt may be tempted by a move back to Hull. He played in Humberside between 2011 and 2014, scoring 27 goals in 82 appearances. But while a return to the KCom Stadium may be heartwarming, it is likely that he would get more first team football at Ipswich and QPR who have made their need for a goalscoring very clear in recent weeks. This suggests that Fryatt would be made a central part of their plans.
