With Sunderland currently adjusting to life and what has been a tumultuous first few weeks in the Championship, they now find themselves in somewhat of a predicament.

They have had to deal with a David Moyes’ departure, the search for a new candidate to fill the managerial hot-seat and most recently the departure of one of their key players, Jordan Pickford.

Pickford was exceptional for Sunderland last season and several remarkable displays meant that he prevented them from losing by what could have been incredible margins and in some cases, he ensured that Sunderland managed to keep the leads they were accruing through Jermain Defoe’s prolific finishing in front of goal.

With Pickford looking set to become the third most expensive signing for a goalkeeper at £30 million and subsequently the most expensive player to have left the Championship, there are clearly big gloves to fill between the sticks at the Stadium of Light. Here, we take a look at the three ideal candidates to replace him at the Championship side.
