Nottingham Forest and QPR have joined the race to sign Newcastle United’s Sammy Ameobi according to a report from Get West London.
The 25-year-old winger, who can also play up front, is expected to be released by the Magpies this summer and it is more than likely that he will be playing in the Sky Bet Championship come the start of next season. So far he has been heavily linked with a move back to Bolton Wanderers, where he had a very successful loan spell after helping to lead them back to the second tier.
But while it appeared that Bolton were leading the race to sign Ameobi, another two teams have now joined the race to sign the forward whose most famous for being the brother of Newcastle favourite Shola. Both Forest and QPR are now mulling over moves for him as they look to add more firepower to their squads on the back of what were disappointing seasons.
Both Forest and QPR will be expecting to do more next season and with Ameobi having the taste for success after getting promoted last year, they believe he could be their man. Forest and QPR wanted to challenge for a place in the play-offs last season but neither came close, with the East Midlands side instead almost getting relegated on the last day of the season. QPR managed to avoid being involved in a fight against the drop but were still disappointed to be stuck in mid-table mediocrity for most of the season.
