Huddersfield Town and Newcastle United have been installed by Sky Bet as likely teams to sign Sheffield Wednesday’s Fernando Forestieri.
It seemed almost definite that Forestieri would leave Hillsborough last summer when he refused to travel with the rest of the squad for the match against Norwich City amid interest from Derby County and Newcastle United. However he was convinced to stay and ended up signing a new long-term deal with the club. But with another summer beckoning and Forestieri’s last moment on the season being when he missed a penalty lose the Sky Bet Championship play-off shoot-out against Huddersfield Town, some believe he may be close to the exit door once again.
And Sky Bet are now taking wagers on this move and two of the teams that were promoted from the Championship. The current favourite to sign Forestieri this summer is Watford with odds of 6/1 of signing him, the club that initially sold the forward but there has been several managerial changes since, but Huddersfield have been installed as the second favourites after being given odds of 8/1. Newcastle have also been given odds of 16/1 to sign him with Burnley being priced the same. You can get 10/1 on West Ham United to sign Forestieri.
But Sky Bet seem to believe that Forestieri will be staying at Sheffield Wednesday as the odds given on him staying at the club this summer is 1/3, marking that out as the clearly most likely outcome according to the bookies. And at the moment that does seem the most likely option as no team are yet to make an approach for him this summer.
