Yennaris, Brentford midfielder pens new four year deal

Brentford midfielder pens new four year deal

Nico Yennaris has signed a new four-year contract with Brentford as confirmed by the club website.

The 24-year-old midfielder signed for the Bees back in January 2014 after coming through the famed Arsenal academy but struggling to break into their first team. After initially being stuck on the sidelines for the first part of his career at Griffin Park due to a succession injuries, even having to go on loan to Wycombe Wanderers to get some time on the pitch under his belt, he finally became a regular for the team in 2015 and has since emerged as one of their star players.

And now with Brentford keen to keep a player that played in every single game for the Bees last season, they have got him signed to a long-term deal that will keep him in West London until 2021. Now he will be concentrating on his career at Brentford and making sure they challenge for the Sky Bet Championship pay-offs like they are hoping to do next season.

Following Yennaris signing the new contract, Brentford head coach Dean Smith said: “We are really pleased that Nico has agreed the contract extension. He has become an integral part of the team, as his appearances last season have shown. He is continuing to improve in all aspects of his game and is becoming an accomplished goal scoring midfielder in the Championship.”

Brentford don’t know who their first game of the Championship season will be yet but their first pre-season friendly will be against Aldershot Town on the 7th July.
