Ipswich Town agree £1m deal to sign Rangers striker

Ipswich Town have agreed a £1m deal to sign Rangers’ Joe Garner according to a report from the East Anglian Daily Times.

The Tractor Boys are coming off the back of a disappointing season where they ended up towards the bottom half of the Sky Bet Championship and even head coach Mick McCarthy started to come under pressure for the standard of performances being put out. This means that it is a very important summer for Ipswich as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the club looking to push for a place in the play-offs.

And as part of that squad strengthening, Ipswich are looking to snap up Garner from Rangers. he only moved to Glasgow last summer from Preston North End but it has turned out to be a poor move for both parties as he has struggled to break into the first team, a situation only exacerbated when Mark Warburton departed as head coach and was replaced by Pedro Caixinha. And now he is getting close to returning to England.

Ipswich are planning to spend plenty of their budget on making sure Garner is playing regularly in Suffolk next season, agreeing a £1m fee to sign him. This is higher than the fee of £500K that was noted in some reports about this move but if Garner can replicate his Preston form at Portman Road, it would end up being worth every penny. However personal terms are yet to be agreed and the move is still time away from being completed.
