Hull City and Fulham keen on Burnley midfielder

Hull City and Fulham are set to do battle with West Brom for the signature of Burnley midfielder Scott Arfrield, according to report in The Sun.

The Scotland born Canadian international has one year left on his contract at Turf Moor, and would be available for a fee of around £2.5 million despite Sean Dyche’s reluctance to let the player leave the club.

The 28-year old has made over 150 appearances for the club since joining from Huddersfield Town in 2013 and featured 31 times for the Clarets in the 2016/17 season.

West Brom are hoping to add Arfield to the squad to boost their midfield options at the Hawthorns after losing Darren Fletcher to Stoke, while Leonid Slutsky will be hoping to bolster in the middle too with Alfred N’Diaye and Lazar Markovic departing the club, and midfielders Sam Clucas, Kamil Grosicki and Tom Huddlestone also linked with moves away.

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic is also keen to add to his midfield department knowing that losing starlet Ryan Sessegnon is a real possibility, with Liverpool and Spurs particularly keen on the 17-year old.

Arfield has over 400 career appearances under his belt and would be a fine acquisition for either Hull City or Fulham in their push for promotion next year.

Arfield is suited as a left sided player but can feature right across the midfield line when needed. The Scotland-born and the form he showed in Burnely’s promotion winning season in 2015/16 show he would be an important addition to a squad in the second tier.
