Turkish side showing interest in star Cardiff defender

Turkish side Sivasspor are preparing a bid for Cardiff City defender Bruno Manga, according to to Wales Online.

The centre-back’s contract at the Bluebirds expires later this month, with boss Neil Warnock revealing the players desire to leave the club last week as contract talks proved fruitless.

The 28-year old Gabon international joined the club back in 2014, from French side Lorient for a fee of around £4.5 million. He has gone on to make over 70 appearances for the Welsh side, but only 21 of them came in 2016/17 after an injury-hit year after suffering a knee knock paying for his home country in the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

But Turkish outfit Sivasspor, who have just been promoted to the country’s top division are keen on securing the services of the defender.

Warnock has already made three signings ahead of the 2017/18 campaign, bringing in goalkeeper Neil Etheridge from Walsall, winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing from Rotherham and right-back Callum Paterson from Hearts.

But he is yet to address his centre-back issues, with the futures of captain Sean Morrison – subject of a £3m bid from Cardiff’s Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday last week – and Manga needing to be resolved before Warnock can continue to re-shape his defence.

Peter Whittingham has also been linked with a move away from the club in recent days, with both Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa linked wit the midfielder.

Manga has previously been linked with Turkish giants Galatasaray.
