Sky Bet League One side AFC Wimbledon have completed a deal for Sean Kelly to sign for Ross County, according to getwestlondon.

Born in Glasgow, the 23-year-old defender started his football career in Scotland, playing for St Mirren for four years before signing for AFC Wimbledon in 2016.

During his four-year spell, which saw Kelly make his professional debut in 2013, the defender made 90 appearances for the Saints and found the back of the net on six occasions.

Kelly joined the Dons in 2016 following a successful trial and netted for the first time on 14 January, a game which the London side won 2-1 over Oxford United.

During his time at Kingsmeadow last season, Kelly made 32 appearances in all competitions, finding the netting twice.

Last season Ross County finished the Scottish Premiership in sixth place, nine points above bottom-placed Inverness Caledonian Thistle. But Ross County Manager Jim McIntyre’s primary goal for the upcoming goal must be to reduce the number of goals conceded next season compared to last season’s tally of fifty-eight.

Speaking after signing the former East Stirlingshire loanee from AFC Wimbledon, Ross County manager Jim McIntyre said: “Sean is a player I have admired for a number of years now. He is a left-sided player and at 6’2” will add a real presence to our defence.

“Although still young at 23, Sean has lots of experience having played for St Mirren before moving south to Wimbledon. He will be a great addition to the squad and I am delighted to get him tied up.”
