Middlesbrough have slapped a £20m valuation on Ben Gibson as they look to get as much money as possible for their star man according to a report from the Express & Star.
The 24-year-old defender is Middlesbrough’s star man and he impressed even when the club were relegated from the Premier League. Right now he is currently away from Teesside as he has been named in the England squad for today’s fixture against the Auld Enemy Scotland and the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and West Bromwich Albion have become interested in him over the last few months.
With all this interest from some of the best teams in the Premier League, Middlesbrough have accepted that they will end up losing Gibson this summer. But even though they have come to terms with that fact, they are still looking to get as much money as possible for a player that came through their academy.
Boro have decided to value Gibson at a staggering £20m and have challenged any interested team that they must match this value or the defender will be staying at Riverside for the forthcoming season. But it is unlikely that valuation will put many teams off. That sort of fee is easily payable by the Champions League teams that are interested in him and with West Brom labeling Gibson as their number one target this summer due to their lack of defenders, it is likely that they would be willing to splash out to make sure he is a Baggie come the start of next season.
