It has been reported throughout the past few days that Garry Monk was set to become the new manager of Middlesbrough Football Club, and today it has officially been confirmed.

Boro confirmed the deal on their official website, stating that Monk has become their new boss.

No further details were released, and Garry Monk will officially be unveiled at a press conference on Monday.

Garry Monk has been without a job since he resigned from his post at Leeds United on May 25.

The former Swansea City manager was unable to agree a new deal with Whites chairman Andrea Radrizzani, and whilst the Yorkshire club still search for a manager, Boro can start preparing for the new season.

Middlesbrough fans will be hoping that Monk can lead their club to an immediate return to the Premier League, following their relegation to the Sky Bet Championship last season.

Garry Monk was a popular choice amongst Boro fans, and it seems that they have finally got their wish.
