The 4 EFL players involved in this Sunday’s Under-20 World Cup Final

Dael Fry (Middlesbrough)

It would be fair to say that the 19-year-old didn’t enjoy his best season at club level, although not necessarily all down to him. With Middlesbrough promoted into the Premier League, he was always going to find it hard to break into Aitor Karanka’s starting eleven. He was therefore shipped out on loan to Rotherham United, then managed by Alan Stubbs. As we all know, Stubbs had a miserable spell at the New York Stadium, eventually losing his job. In total, Fry played ten times in a Rotherham shirt, and played two times for Boro in FA Cup ties against Manchester City and Accrington Stanley. He has started three times under Simpson at the Under-20 World Cup this summer, so he certainly has a chance of taking to the field!
