Cardiff conclude deal for Scotland international on three-year deal

Following the expiration of his contract with Heart of Midlothian, Cardiff City have today announced the signing of Scotland full back Callum Paterson. He has penned a three-year deal with the Welsh side, beating off competition from elsewhere for his signature.

Paterson was linked with Cardiff many months ago whilst the season was ongoing. Now the deal has been officially confirmed and the man himself has already spoken of his excitement about the challenge ahead over the next three seasons in the Welsh capital. Neil Warnock continues his summer recruitment at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The 22-year-old made a big impression at Tynecastle from a young age. He has gone on to amass over 150 matches for the Jam Tarts over the past five years. Speaking on news of the move, Paterson revealed his delight at getting this deal over the line,

“I’m absolutely delighted and buzzing to be part of this big club.

“It’s nice and early so I’ve got a lot of time to bed in, get to know my way around the area and introduce myself. It’s great timing and I’m happy to be here.

“I’m a great attacker and I like to score my goals, so hopefully I can come here and score a few too.”

Although Paterson missed out on a call up by Gordon Strachan for the upcoming international with England, he is still very much in the plans of the former Leeds United midfielder. Strong performances in a Cardiff City shirt will further enhance his prospects on the international scene.
