In a shock turn of events, former Leeds United boss Garry Monk is 33/1 to return to the job he left just a matter of weeks ago.

The former Swansea City man resigned from his post as manager of Leeds United just days after Andrea Radrizzani completed his 100% takeover of the club, buying the remaining 50% stake from fellow Italian Massimo Cellino.

Reports coming out of the Yorkshire club indicated that Garry Monk did have his heart set on remaining at Leeds United, but could not agree a deal with Andrea Radrizzani.

Monk was looking for a more of a long term commitment, and wanted to sign a new three year contract, whilst Radrizzani is reported to have offered him just the one year.

But it seems that there is still hope that Monk may return to Elland Road.

Sky Bet have given odds of 33/1 for him to be named as the new manager of Leeds United.

Of course, this by no means makes him the favourite, and at 33/1 he has been given the same odds as the likes of former Manchester United star Ryan Giggs, and Thomas Tuchel, who recently resigned as manager of German giants Borussia Dortmund.

But could a shock return be on the cards for Garry Monk?

It remains to be seen how Leeds United fans would react if he was to be re-appointed as their manager.

Monk did lead the Whites to a seventh place finish in the Sky Bet Championship, but his resignation left them with a bitter taste in their mouths.
