Bolton Wanderers complete permanent deal for popular loan striker

Bolton Wanderers have today announced the permanent signing of striker Adam Le Fondre. He ended last season on loan at the club from Cardiff City, where his contract expired this summer. He has penned a two-year deal with the Trotters.

Assuming he comes through a medical, then it will give Le Fondre some security at this crucial moment in his career. He has spent the vast majority of the last few years away on loan, including two spells at Bolton. As well as that, he has spent time at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic. He scored seven goals in the run in last season to help get Bolton over the line.

‘Alfie’ is certainly a popular member of the squad at Wanderers, and he himself expressed his delight at penning a permanent switch to the Macron Stadium,

“It’s not going to be a shock that I’ve signed and it’s been a long time coming. Bolton Wanderers is my spiritual home at the moment and I’m really looking forward to putting in a lot of hard work and get going.”

His manager, Phil Parkinson, believes his experience next season will be vital as they look to consolidate in the next division above,

“We are really pleased with the signing of Alfie. He made a positive contribution last season and has real hunger and desire to play for the club in the Sky Bet Championship.”

Le Fondre is now looking for some consistency which he hasn’t really experienced since his time at Rotherham United, where he scored many goals and earned a big reputation for himself in the game. He has definitely rebuilt his career at Bolton, now getting the chance to do so over the next two seasons at the very least.
