BT Sport and BBC Radio Five Live commentator Darren Fletcher has today been appointed to the board of directors at Notts County. The Nottingham-born broadcaster is one of the six new faces welcomed by chairman Alan Hardy.
Notts County play their football in Sky Bet League Two, now managed by former Bolton Wanderers and West Ham United midfielder Kevin Nolan. The Magpies are looking to build a side capable of achieving promotion after finishing not too far away from the drop zone last year. Hardy is improving the public image of the club by welcoming new faces onto the board.
In addition to Fletcher, Jon Enever, Paul Mace, Jason Turner, Corrine Rigby and Amanda Fletcher have all been promoted onto the board with the oldest professional football club. The question many will be asking if why Fletcher has found himself among the new appointments?
Well, he is born in Nottingham as mentioned, so clearly he has the football club and local community at heart. He previously worked as a sports editor on regional radio, covering the East Midlands area. He therefore will have had plenty of interaction with the football club over the years. Speaking on this change, chairman Hardy says it will only benefit the football club in the long run,
“I am delighted to have put together such a strong team of people who have a diverse and complementary range of football and business skill sets.
“The board will help in the creation, development and implementation of a wide range of initiatives to meet our short, medium and long-term goals.”
