Sky Bet Championship side Preston North End are closing in on the second signing of the summer, according to the Lancashire Evening Post.
The Lilywhites have already secured the signature of Cork City star Sean Maguire, and they look set to raid the Irish club again, with reports that left back Kevin O’Connor is closing in on sealing a move to Deepdale.
In fact, sources from Ireland suggest that a deal has already been done, and that O’Connor is on the verge of signing, and they all that needs to be done is confirmation from both clubs.
Previous signing Sean Maguire will bring goals to the Preston North End team, whilst Kevin O’Connor is a more defensive minded player.
That being said, he is an attacking fullback, who can play in a flat back four or even as a wing back if required.
He has also stood out in the Irish league for his set piece delivery, playing a key part in Cork City’s charge to the top of the table.
Preston North End finished 11th in their Sky Bet Championship last season, enjoying another successful campaign under manager Simon Grayson.
Rumours about Grayson’s future are currently flying around, after the North End boss was linked with taking over at Sunderland following David Moyes’ resignation.
However, the signing of Sean Maguire, and the reported pursuit of Kevin O’Connor perhaps suggests that Grayson is settled at Deepdale, and is preparing to build his squad ahead of the next season, and they look to challenge for the Play-Offs in the Sky Bet Championship.
