Highly rated Manchester City youth player Bersant Celina is reportedly being sent out on loan for the second year running. Bolton Wanderers are looking like the favourites to land his signature for the season according to the Bolton news.
Last season the Kosovan midfielder helped FC Twente out to a respectable 7th place finish in the Eredivisie. Solid, but not a patch on the Steve McLaren days. Celina’s 5 goals in 27 games obviously haven’t impressed enough to make it into the City first side, but has perhaps earned a spell down the road with Bolton.
Phil Parkinson is reportedly intent on bringing Celina in with the intention to return to a 4-2-3-1 formation, including two attacking midfielders. The former Norway u-21 international can be deployed either here as a number 10 or on the right, providing depth for the Whites. Since their FIFA recognition, Celina has made five appearances for Kosovo.
Rumours of the deal first came about with a story post on Celina’s Instagram of the Macron Stadium with the caption “Nice”. This sent fans into a frenzy wondering whether there was something in it or if he was admiring the architecture of the 28,000 all-seater.
The deal is allegedly a season long loan but as Celina has been limited to one Premier League appearance and three FA Cup caps, it remains to be seen how long it’ll take for him to adapt to senior English football. With this being Bolton’s first season back in the Championship after promotion, you can imagine the main aim will be survival. Only time will tell if Celina can not only sign, but help guide them to Championship safety.
