Pep Clotet, Leeds United unlikely to appoint Pep Clotet as manager

Leeds United unlikely to appoint Pep Clotet as manager

The last few weeks have been filled with rumours at Leeds United, as people speculate who will become the next manager at Elland Road.

The Whites are still on the search for a new boss, after Garry Monk’s resignation a matter of weeks ago.

The former Leeds United manager was unable to agree terms with new club owner Andrea Radrizzani, and consequently left the club.

Since then, a number of names have been thrown in the hat. We’ve gone from Aitor Karanka being favourite, to Claudio Ranieri, to Pep Clotet.

And it seems that another twist has occurred, with a senior journalist at the Yorkshire Evening Post tweeting that he thinks Pep Clotet is not set to be named as the new man in charge at Elland Road.

Phil Hay, a writer for the Yorkshire Evening Post, said that although the club think very highly of Pep Clotet, it could be seen as too much of a risk.

Barcelona born Clotet has very little managerial experience. Instead, he has spent his coaching career as assistant manager and other backroom staff positions.

Usually, it seems that wherever former Leeds United boss Garry Monk goes, Clotet will follow.

Although it has been confirmed that the Spaniard does wish to remain at Elland Road, it will depend entirely on who the club bring in as a new manager.

The new manager may wish to bring in his own members of staff, which would of course include an assistant manager, and potentially put Clotet out of a job.
