According to FootballLondon, Newcastle United are tabling a bid of £15million to sign Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs.
The English left back has been a long time target of the Sky Bet Championship winners, and it seems like they will finally submit an official bid for Gibbs.
The 27 year old struggled to get into the first team picture at the Emirates this season, as he made just 10 appearances in the Premier League.
And to make matters worse for Gibbs, the North London side have already confirmed that they will be signing Bosnian left back Sean Kolasinac on a free transfer from German side Schalke.
This will push Gibbs even further down the pecking order, meaning that first team football would be extremely limited if he were to remain at the club.
Because of this, he has attracted attention from a number of current Premier League clubs, such as West Brom, but it seems that Newcastle will submit the first bid.
Rafa Benitez appears not to be put off by the price tag which has been slapped on the English defender, with Arsenal reportedly wanting £15million to prize Gibbs away from North London.
The Spanish manager is aiming to build a squad laced with Premier League experience, and Kieran Gibbs would fit the bill perfectly.
He has played 137 times for Arsenal since breaking onto the scene in 2007.
As well as club appearances, he has been capped 10 times by England. He made his debut in a friendly match against Hungary in 2010.
