Bristol City have had scouts watching the New York Red Bulls’ Kemar Lawrence according to a report from US publication Metro.
The 25-year-old defender has been a star player for the MLS side this season and while he was left off the All-Star game ballot, it has been a decision that has been widely criticising due to the form he has been in this season. But while the American leagues are continuing to get bigger and are attracting more quality players, it is still believed that to be the best you have to leave the country and now Lawrence is attracting interest from teams in England.
This report suggests a lot of teams have been watching Lawrence over the last few weeks with them mostly being from the Premier League and Sky Bet Championship. While most of the teams watching haven’t been named, this report did say that Bristol City have been watching very keenly over the last few weeks and that they appear to be the team more likely to make a move in the next few weeks.
But with the MLS season still raging on, Lawrence cannot afford to be distracted by these rumours linking him with a move abroad. The New York Red Bulls are currently 6th in the Eastern Conference and are fighting to make sure they can be in the end of season play-offs. More teams will be getting a chance to watch Lawrence in their US Cup match against fierce rivals New York City on the 15th June.
