Bolton Wanderers have asked Liverpool about the availability of Lloyd Jones according to a report from journalist Alan Nixon.
The Lancashire club are once again set to compete in the Sky Bet Championship after they were promoted back to the second tier at the first time of asking after finishing 2nd this season. But they know that because their last time in this division was so horrific, they will need to strengthen their team a lot to make sure they don’t drop back down straight away. And one player they are looking at is one of the shining lights in the Liverpool academy.
Jones is a 21-year-old defender and while he is yet to make his debut for Liverpool, he has gained a lot of experience while out on loan. He’s played for the likes of Cheltenham Town, Accrington Stanley and Blackpool, with his last spell being at Swindon Town. While that wasn’t the best time for Jones, he was unable to stop them being relegated from Sky Bet League One, he did put in some good performances and that has attracted the attention of Bolton.
According to this report, Bolton have started talks with Liverpool and are looking to sign Jones on loan. They would be pairing the defender with David Wheater, someone who earned rave reviews and gained many personal awards for his great season in League One. It is currently unknown whether this deal will go any further but it would be natural progression for Jones to jump into the Championship this season.
