As is the case with every summer, transfer rumours fly about.

A number of players are linked with a number of clubs, but a lot of these rumours never come to fruition.

Leeds United are a huge club in the Sky Bet Championship, and with that comes a number of rumours that players will be interested in joining the club.

Some of them would be great additions, others would barely touch the first team.

We take a look at five players that have been linked with a move to Leeds United this summer, that the club should strive to ensure they complete a deal for:

1) Leigh Griffiths – Celtic: Leeds United have been made the bookies favourite to sign Leigh Griffiths this summer, and it seems like a no brainer. Griffiths struggled to make a real impression during his last spell in England at Wolverhampton Wanderers, but he has been firing in the goals since his move back to Scotland. He joined Celtic in 2014, and has played 94 games for the Bhoys since that move. In that time, he has scored an impressive 64 goals. It remains to be seen whether or not Leeds United striker Chris Wood will leave the club this summer, but if he doesn’t, Griffiths and Wood could form a deadly partnership up front together.

2) Frederico Venacio – Vitoria Setabul: It appears that Leeds United will be one centre back short next season, as Kyle Bartley looks set to remain at Premier League side Swansea City. Bartley spent the season on loan at Elland Road, forming a solid partnership with Pontus Jansson, but now Leeds will be on the lookout for his replacement. One defender linked with a move to Yorkshire is Portuguese centra back Frederico Venacio. The 24 year old is currently plying his trade in the top flight in Portugal, representing Vitoria Setabul, but is said to be open to a move to the second tier of English football. Venacio has a lot of experience in top flight football, playing over 100 times for his current club, as well as representing Portugal 10 times at youth level. Being 24, he would have plenty of time to develop and improve at Leeds United.
