Burnley line up Reading defender as Michael Keane replacement

Burnley are lining up Reading’s Liam Moore as a replacement for Michael Keane according to a report from the Daily Mirror.

Moore is coming off the back of a great season for the Royals with them finishing 3rd in the Sky Bet Championship despite not being tipped to be involved in the promotion battle. However they just missed out on promotion when they suffered a heartbreaking penalties loss to Huddersfield Town and will now have to go again as they look to return to the Premier League.

However one of Reading’s players might end up heading to the top tier even with their play-off final loss. Moore is currently being pursued by Burnley and they are preparing to make a move for him should they end up losing one of their top defenders.

The Clarets are currently trying to fend off interest for their own star man in the back four, Michael Keane. He was great for the club this season and while Burnley have been able to keep hold of him over the last few months despite there being interest from a lot of clubs, this might be the transfer window they can’t keep hold of him. Both Liverpool and Manchester United are set to swoop for Keane in what would be a £25m move, and Burnley are planning for life without him.

And after what was a great campaign for Moore, they believe that he would fit into their squad well and be able to fill the massive hole that Keane would leave.
