Giuseppe Bellusci blotted his copy book at Elland Road with both his antics and his attitude that many said was divisive in the changing room.

It was abundantly clear that there was no way that he fit into Garry Monk’s plans for last season. Instead Bellusci headed back to his homeland of Italy and a season-long stint on loan at Serie A side Empoli.

In fairness to Bellusci, the much-derided Leeds United central defender has had a decent season for Empoli, despite being part of a side that tasted the bitterness of relegation to Serie B. Whilst over in Empoli, Bellusci has made 33 appearances this season. He also became their highest rated defender, according to website WhoScored.com, with an average rating of 6.81 over the course of the season. Bellusci scored once during his stay.

However, due to indiscretions past, there is little, real prospect of Giuseppe Bellusci welcomed back to the Leeds United fold next season. Empoli are likely to reassess whether they wish to take him on a full-time basis, cost being the big leveller there.

That left quite a big lump in the throat for Leeds fans to swallow, the potential that Bellusci could very soon be walking amongst them as a returning Leeds United player. For some, there would be a severe outbreak of apoplexy, others just mere anger – plain and simple.

However, a snippet of hope lies in that Serie A side Bologna, according to website TUTTOmercatoWEB, are interested in Bellusci, seeing him as an idea for their defensive unit. As far as Leeds fans are concerned, this is something of a Godsend, as can be seen by the following comments from Whites fans on Twitter.

Bellusci wanted by Serie A side Bologna – Leeds fans respond

The above tweets give a flavour of just what the feeling is like towards Giuseppe Bellusci from Leeds United fans. With the weather outside heating up, it seems the temperatures of some Leeds fans are already running high. Bellusci coming back would only raise them higher still.
