Everyone in football assumed that Aitor Karanka to Leeds United was a done deal, but it seems far from that.
According to Sky Sports, their sources have told them that Karanka is not the favourite to take over at Elland Road, despite him being heavily odds on with near enough every bookmakers.
They do not reveal who the favourite is, but it seems that the future of Leeds United is once again up in the air.
Karanka seemed set to become the next manager of Leeds United following Victor Orta’s appointment as director of football.
The pair worked together at Middlesbrough, overseeing a run to the Play-Off final in 2014/15, and an automatic promotion the following season.
Leeds United have been on the search for a new manager since Garry Monk walked out early last week.
It came as a shock to everyone, but Monk could not agree terms with Andrea Radrizzani, who had completed his 100% takeover of the club just a matter of days before Monk’s resignation.
Whoever becomes the new manager of Leeds United will have a lot to live up to.
The fans at Elland Road loved Garry Monk, and appreciated his attacking style of football.
The former Swansea City boss took Leeds to a seventh place finish in the Sky Bet Championship, which saw them narrowly miss out on the Play-Offs by just five points.
Despite this latest revelation, Aitor Karanka is still the odds on favourite to take the helm at Elland Road, with Sky Bet having him as low as 1/5.
