Millwall are close to signing AFC Wimbledon’s Tom Elliott as he is currently undergoing a medical at the club according to a report from the London Evening Standard.
The 26-year-old striker is coming off one of the best seasons in his career, scoring 13 goals for the Dons, being named as their Player of the Season and also being voted as the 41st best player in the EFL. But while it seemed like Wimbledon had a new star player, the problem they had was that his contract was set to expire this summer.
And while Wimbledon have done their best to keep Elliott around, it does appear that he is set to join Millwall in the next few days. This was first reported a few days ago but it now seems more likely than ever as Elliott is now undergoing a medical after agreeing terms with the Lions and the transfer may be confirmed in the next day or two.
For Elliott this will be a great opportunity to test himself in the Sky Bet Championship after Millwall sealed their place in that division with their play-off final victory over Bradford City. He will have to get ahead of fan favourites Steve Morison and Lee Gregory in the pecking order but with his form this season there is a good chance of him being able to establish himself as a first teamer. He’ll become Millwall’s second signing of the summer after they brought in James Meredith from the team they beat in the final, Bradford.
