Norwich City join competitive race for Lincoln City defender

Norwich City have joined a very busy race to sign Lincoln City’s Sean Raggett according to a report from BBC Radio Norfolk journalist Rob Butler.

Raggett has been a rock solid defender for Lincoln as they embarked on a historic season. Not only did they finally get back into the EFL after becoming the Vanarama National champions, but they also reached the FA trophy semi-final and went on an amazing FA Cup run where they beat the likes of Brighton and Hove Albion and Burnley before eventually falling to Arsenal in the quarter-finals. And with Raggett being one of the stars of this team with his great performances, it is perhaps no surprise to see many teams are interested in signing him.

Last week it was reported that Oxford United and Peterborough United had made bids worth £250K, while even Premier League side West Ham United expressed their interest with an offer of £125K. They were all rejected but now the Imps are going to have to fend off even more interest as Norwich are now looking to sign the lanky defender.

The Canaries are looking to strengthen their defence and will have to replace Ryan Bennett after they decided to release him at the end of his contract, with him now being part of Sky Bet Championship rivals Wolves squad now. And while it would be a big jump for Raggett to play in the second tier of English football, Norwich obviously think highly enough of him to make a move to sign him.
