According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea have shown an interest in signing Fulham shot stopper Marcus Bettinelli.
They state that an approach has been made from Chelsea as they look for a back up goalkeeper, following the departure of Asmir Begovic who has moved to Bournemouth.
Bettinelli is said to be high up on the shortlist to replace Begovic as Courtois’ number two following an excellent season with Fulham.
Bettinelli helped Fulham reach the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs, before they were beaten over two legs by Reading.
This is not the first time that Chelsea have shown an interest in the Fulham keeper.
They attempted to sign him back in 2015, but the English goalkeeper turned down the move over fears that he would be third choice, and first team football would be extremely limited.
Of course, the same would stand as before, and Bettinelli would not be first choice, because Courtois is firmly cemented as Antonio Conte’s number one choice.
But money talks, and that could potentially tempt Marcus Bettinelli to make the switch across West London.
The goalkeeper has made one appearance for England U21s. That came in a game against Czech Republic, which England won 1-0.
Bettinelli has been at the Cottagers as a professional since 2012, before has spent several seasons out on loan.
He enjoyed time at Dartford, and Accrington Stanley twice, before securing the number one spot at Craven Cottage.
