Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez has began talks with former club Chelsea in an attempt to bring striker Tammy Abraham to the club.
Abraham enjoyed a stand out season in the Sky Bet Championship on loan at Bristol City, earning the plaudits from a number of clubs, including Everton and Leicester City.
But his performances did not go unnoticed by Chelsea either, who are planning to offer the young striker a new deal at the club.
He scored 26 goals in all competitions during his loan spell.
However, The Sun reports that they will loan him out for the 2017/18 season in order to gain more first team experience.
And it seems that Rafa Benitez is extremely interested in bringing the 19 year old striker to Newcastle United.
The report states that the Spanish manager would be willing to pay Abraham’s £25,000 a week wages, as well as contributing a rental fee.
It will not be easy for them to secure Tammy Abraham’s signature however. Recently promoted Brighton & Hove Albion are said to be interested in a loan, whilst the aforementioned Everton and Leicester want the front man on a permanent basis.
Rafa Benitez is currently reshaping his squad as his Newcastle United prepare for life back in the Premier League.
He led them to the Sky Bet Championship title, pipping Brighton to it on the final day of the season.
Benitez has previously stated that he is looking to sign players with Premier League experience, and although Tammy Abraham does not have any, it is clear that the Spanish boss feels he is ready to play in the top flight.
