Portsmouth fans react to Paul Cook’s departure

It has been a fantastic season for Portsmouth Football Club, as they at last earned promotion back to the third tier of English football as champions.

They are considered somewhat a sleeping giant, after years of financial trouble, but it seems that they are finally on the way back up.

In Paul Cook, they had a manager who knew what he was doing. He earned promotion from the same division with Chesterfield in 2013/14, before helping them reach the Play-Offs in Sky Bet League One the following year.

Hopes were high on the South Coast that back to back promotions was genuinely on the cards.

But their bubble has been somewhat burst today, after confirmation that Paul Cook had departed the club to join Wigan Athletic, who will be playing in the same league as Pompey next season following their relegation from the Sky Bet Championship.

His departure was soon eased, with reports that experienced manager Kenny Jackett was Portsmouth’s first choice replacement, but these could be just rumours.

Portsmouth fans took to Twitter following Cook’s departure from the club.
