Wolves are closing in on making Rio Ave’s Roderick Miranda their first signing of the summer according to a report from the Express & Star.
It has been a turbulent summer for Wolves as Paul Lambert decided to leave his post as manager due to the perceived influence of super agent Jorge Mendes. But the Black County club are reshaping their squad ahead of getting a new manager, believed to be Nuno Espirito, and it appears that their first signing of the summer will be completed soon.
Once again, Wolves are looking to Portugal this summer in order to strengthen their squad and the man expected to pen a deal at the club in the next few days is Roderick. The 26-year-old defender currently plies his trade for Rio Ave and has been managed by potential incoming boss Espirito, making this move all the more likely.
And this deal is expected to be wrapped up in the next week, with this report suggesting that Wolves will be paying out £2.6m to bring Roderick to Molineux. This is part of the club trying to improve their defence as they were also linked with a move to Vitoria Setubal’s Fabio Cardoso today. They need more players in defence as it seems like they are set to lose a few players in that back four this summer with Mike Williamson expected to depart on a free transfer while Richard Stearman is also expected to leave permanently now that his loan spell with Fulham has ended.
