Hull City considering Preston North End manager as their next boss

Hull City are considering making Preston North End head coach Simon Grayson their new manager according to a report from HITC Sport.

While the Tigers did improve in the second half of the season, their last head coach Marco Silva was unable to stop the club from being relegated. After their fate was confirmed, Silva ended up resigning from the club and he would end up staying in the Premier League after becoming Watford’s new boss. But that means Hull need a new manager to help them to return to the top tier and they are looking at a very experienced man.

They have been considering making a move for Grayson who has been Preston’s manager since 2013, making him one of the longest reigning head coaches in the Sky Bet Championship. He has been very successful during his time at Deepdale, getting them promoted via the play-offs from Sky Bet League One and getting them close to the Championship play-off places despite being outmatched by their rivals budgets. This led to him being voted as the 13th best manager in the EFL.

And now Grayson is on the Hull shortlist as their search for a Silva replacement continues. The Tigers want someone who knows this league like the back of their hand and having managed the likes of Leeds United, Blackpool and Huddersfield Town, he certainly has that. However a move to Blackpool would ramp up the pressure on Grayson to get results, something he doesn’t have as much of at the moment at Preston due to their meagre budget.
